Thursday: Wilmington International Film Festival

Movie lovers, grab your popcorn! One of the coolest things to do in Delaware this fall is back. The Wilmington International Film Festival is back for its second year. It kicks off Thursday night and runs through Sunday, with films from all over the world screening at Theatre N and The Screening Room 1313, right here in Wilmington.
Most screenings run about $15 to $20 per ticket, and film fans who want to see it all can grab an All Access VIP Pass. It is a perfect excuse for a date night, a night out with friends or a solo cinema adventure.
Plan your screenings and see the full lineup on the Wilmington International Film Festival website.
Friday: The Goth Ball at Rockwood Park and Museum

Dig out your best black outfit, because the Goth Ball is back at Rockwood Park and Museum in Wilmington on Friday, October 9, from 7 to 11 p.m. The night kicks off the museum’s Paranormal Season with an ’80s cover band, a DJ, dancing, and opening night of Rockwood’s Haunted Trails. Come dressed to impress, because this is easily one of the most stylish things to do in Delaware all year!
Spooky-season fans, this is the night to show off your darkest, most dramatic look. Think velvet, lace, top hats and masks.
Get tickets and details from New Castle County.

Saturday: Bridgeville Apple Scrapple Festival

Come hungry! The 34th Annual Apple Scrapple Festival takes over Bridgeville on Saturday, October 10, opening at 9 a.m. (The fun actually starts Friday, October 9, at 4 p.m.) Expect carnival rides, a car show, live entertainment, and two only-in-Delaware contests: the Ladies Skillet Toss and the Scrapple Sling.
And the food? Think apple dumplings, scrapple sandwiches and everything in between. Bring the whole family and an appetite.
Beyond the contests, the festival brings hundreds of crafters and vendors to town, so you can knock out some early holiday shopping between bites.
- Car show: on Railroad Avenue until 2 p.m.
- Ladies Skillet Toss: 1 p.m.
- Scrapple Sling: 2–3 p.m. at the Bandstand
See the full schedule at the Apple Scrapple Festival website.
Sunday: MOT Fall Fair in Middletown

Keep the family fun going on Sunday, October 11, at the 5th Annual MOT Fall Fair, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the MOT Sports Complex, 213 Silver Lake Road in Middletown. The fair supports the Middletown Odessa Townsend Youth Football and Cheerleading League, so you get a great day out with the kids while giving back to local youth. It is one of the best family-friendly things to do in Delaware this October.
