Dot Foods Family Health Center Opens in Bear, Delaware: 5 Amazing Employee Perks

The new Dot Foods Family Health Center in Bear, Delaware, is officially open, and Good Morning Delaware was there to celebrate. DETV covered the ribbon cutting at the Dot Foods distribution center in Bear, where the company unveiled an on-site clinic that gives eligible Dot Foods and Dot Transportation employees and their families convenient, low-cost access to health care right where they work.

The opening is more than a local celebration. It also marks a company-wide milestone: with Bear now open, a Dot Foods Family Health Center is available at all 13 Dot Foods U.S. distribution centers. Watch the full segment above, then read on to learn what the new clinic offers, who can use it, and what it means for workers and families in New Castle County.

A Ribbon Cutting With Employee Wellness at Its Heart

Employees, company leaders, and community guests gathered under the tent at the Bear facility for the ceremonial ribbon cutting. The message of the day was simple: when health care is easy to reach, people are more likely to use it.

Instead of taking time off, driving across the county, and waiting for an open appointment, Dot employees can now get care at a clinic located at their own workplace. The Dot Foods Family Health Center sits at the company’s Bear distribution center at 300 American Blvd., making routine visits, quick sick visits, and follow-up care far easier to fit into a workday.

  2. Help when you are sick. Providers treat common illnesses such as strep throat, the flu, and sinus infections, including prescriptions and IV fluids when needed.
  3. Everyday primary care on site. Services include allergy shots, vaccines, dermatology, lab work such as blood draws, stitches, and more.
  4. Support for chronic conditions. Condition care management helps patients with high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, and heart disease, with free visits, free lab work, and medication savings.
  5. Easy scheduling and real savings. Patients can book appointments anytime through the Marathon Health patient portal, message providers, manage prescriptions, and meet virtually with their care team. When care beyond the clinic is needed, the team also helps with referrals to specialists, X-rays, MRIs, and hospital procedures. Dot Foods reports that Family Health Center patients save an average of 30% on their overall health care costs.

Who Can Use the Dot Foods Family Health Center?

The clinic serves eligible Dot Foods and Dot Transportation employees and their families. According to Dot Foods, anyone age two and older who is covered by Dot’s medical insurance can use the Family Health Center in Bear.

A Milestone: Family Health Centers at All 13 Dot Foods Distribution Centers

The Bear opening means every one of the company’s 13 U.S. distribution centers now has a Dot Foods Family Health Center for its workforce.

Dot Foods is North America’s largest less-than-truckload consolidator in the food industry. The company carries roughly 137,000 products from about 1,500 food manufacturers and, through its affiliate Dot Transportation, ships foodservice, convenience, retail, and vending products to distributors in all 50 states and more than 55 countries.

Dot Foods Keeps Growing in Bear, Delaware

Dot Foods opened its Bear distribution center in 2020 as the company’s 12th U.S. location. In early 2026, Dot announced a $33 million expansion of the Bear facility that will grow it from about 190,000 to about 340,000 square feet, adding more than 19,000 pallet positions, about 15 dock doors, and more than 100 trailer parking spaces. Completion is expected by summer 2027.

As the Bear operation grows, the Dot Foods Family Health Center gives the company a strong way to support the people who keep that operation running, and it is a welcome investment in Delaware’s workforce.

Why On-Site Health Care Matters for Delaware Workers

Convenience is one of the biggest barriers to routine care. Shift schedules, commutes, and family responsibilities can push checkups and screenings to the bottom of the list. Bringing a clinic to the workplace removes many of those hurdles and makes it easier to catch health issues early, when they are often simpler to manage.

Preventive care is a theme Good Morning Delaware returns to often. For more on staying ahead of your health, read our Healthy Delaware guide to breast cancer screening signs, support, and Delaware resources.
