DOVER, Del. — A new state program wants to help Delaware households cut their electricity bills, and it is being billed as the most comprehensive solar and battery storage program in the country.
Gov. Meyer announced Delaware Shines this month, a statewide initiative offering grants and rebates for rooftop solar, battery storage and energy efficiency upgrades for households, small businesses and nonprofits.
The numbers add up fast. The average Delaware household could save more than $300 a year by going solar, and nearly 6,000 Delawareans are already enrolled in community solar programs statewide.
The program builds in extra support for low and moderate income households, aiming to make solar accessible beyond homeowners who can already afford the upfront cost.
